Sample Chronological Resume:
A chronological layout simply means that employment history is listed prominently and typically dominates the content contained within the resume. Surveys have shown that this type of resume is widely preferred amongst hiring and human resource managers. The format is simple to compose; yet it can be difficult for the hiring manager to see position-related skills. For instance, let's say you're going after a management position, yet your current position is within sales. The sales position is listed within the top section and becomes one of the first things that a reader learns about you. The candidate may have bunches of management experience, but it may be buried down into the body of the resume. This layout, therefore, may accommodate the hiring manager, but sometimes fails to help the candidate.
Chronological resumes consist of categories, such as education, objective or summary, certifications, military career, and work experience. Categories tend to be basic and straightforward. Here's a sample chronological resume:

Hired via phone solely upon recommendation from previous employer. Administrative duties included the issuance of proposals, contracts and change orders. Took the initiative to perform additional duties (research and resolution) to eliminate each co-workers overload. Worked closely with Project Engineer monitoring upcoming projects, for bid purposes, to include preparation of bid packages to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and flooring bidders.
